Gala Party in support of Bryn Mawr Bookspace

THE COSMOPOLITAN CLUB

The Bryn Mawr Club of New York City is organizing an enormous, exciting gala party to launch the fundraising effort for a Bryn Mawr bookspace in New York. We hope to establish a self-supporting venue where we can meet to exchange ideas, celebrate our talents and indulge our love of book bargains.
This will not be easy. We need $ 350,000 to lease, renovate and operate the space for a significant period until our income will pay the rent. That figure may dismay some of us who remember our earlier venture – a largely volunteer effort. But times – and women’s lives – have changed. We must pay rent for a desirable location and competitive salaries for professional management.
Our first fundraising effort will be an auction of alumnae goods and services. Auctions have proved successful for other organizations and we hope this will become an enjoyable and lucrative tradition for us. We are especially pleased that Caroline Willis ’66 — an expert in rare books and auctioneering — will be spurring us on in the ballroom of the Cosmopolitan Club.
